Telethon Foundation

Agreement the  for co-development & clinical-grade manufacturing of gene therapies for six rare genetic diseases

MolMed considers the agreement signed in March 2011 with the Telethon Foundation, the most important private Italian research organisation, to be of particular value for:

  • development of lentiviral vectors to be used in new experimental gene therapy protocols for four rare genetic diseases
  • manufacturing of patient-specific, genetically engineered cells used in gene therapy clinical trials for the treatment of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD) and Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS).

San Raffaele Foundation

Agreement the  for the clinical-grade manufacturing of a cell therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy

MolMed provides patient-specific mesoangioblasts to be used in a clinical trial protocol for allogeneic cell therapy of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. MolMed has also performed the development and scaling-up of mesoangioblast cell cultures, as part of the OPTISTEM project, co-funded by the EU as part of the FP7 R&D Framework Project.

GlaxoSmithKline

MolMed enters into a strategic collaboration with GSK for development,manufacturing and technology transfer in gene therapy

Following previous agreements signed in 2011 and 2013, in March 2015 MolMed S.p.A. entered into a strategic collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline, under which MolMed will supply development, manufacturing and technology transfer services aimed at the clinical application of gene therapies based on viral vector cellular transduction. As part of the agreement, MolMed will provide its expertise in process development and its manufacturing competencies and capacity for the production of viral vectors and cell transduction.
