MolMed is expanding its vascular-targeting programme to include more anticancer cytokines fused to tumour-homing peptides.
A novel therapeutic candidate, NGR-IFNg, exploiting the anticancer potential of interferon gamma combined with the NGR peptide, is currently undergoing preclinical validation; a second lead, NGR-IL12, combining interleukin12 with the peptide NGR, is in the R&D stage. The therapeutic rationale is based on the selective targeting and specific action of the cytokine-peptide complexes on tumour blood vessels.
