Strategic partnership with Takara Bio Inc.
MolMed has signed a growing number of agreements with Takara Bio Inc. : in 2001 a non-exclusive in-licensing agreement for Takara Bio’s RetroNectin for the EU and U.S.; in 2003 an out-licensing and development agreement to conduct clinical studies and to market MolMed’s TK in Asia. Takara Bio is an ideal partner for the development of MolMed’s cell-based therapies in Asia: as the largest public Japanese biotech company (by market capitalisation) Takara Bio has expertise in the field of gene and cell therapy and has affiliates in China and South Korea.
Pharmaceutical development and manufacturing agreement with Avecia Biologics for NGR-hTNF
MolMed has entered into a drug development and manufacturing agreement for the production of MolMed’s investigational drug NGR-hTNF with Avecia Biologics, one of the leading developers and cGMP manufacturers of microbial-based biopharmaceuticals. Avecia will further optimise the drug manufacturing process and scale-up, and conduct cGMP manufacture of NGR-hTNF for planned Phase III clinical trials.
Research collaboration with Telethon Foundation
MolMed considers of particular value the agreement signed in October 2005 with Telethon Foundation, the largest private Italian research organisation in terms of fund raising, for the development of a lentiviral vector platform to be used in gene therapy protocols for selected rare genetic diseases.
